Recruitment Overview

DCPU West Singhbhum has invited applications for empanelment of Support Persons under the POCSO Act, 2012 and Rules, 2020. • Graduates from any discipline can also apply.
• At least 2 years of desirable experience in the relevant field is required or expected for eligibility assessment.

The notice also gives preference to candidates with experience in child rights, child protection, legal work, social work, child psychology, counselling, sociology or psychology. It separately mentions desirable experience of at least 1 year in institutions such as DLSA, JHALSA, DCPO, CWC, JJB or POCSO Court.

Only formal full-time experience certificates issued by the employer will be accepted. Volunteer service certificates are not treated as valid experience proof.

Age Limit, Payment and Nature of Work

The official notice fixes the age bracket at 35 to 60 years. Age will be calculated with reference to the advertisement publication date.

The notice states that Support Persons will discharge duties in accordance with the departmental notification issued for Support Persons under the POCSO framework. This is therefore a case-linked support role and not a regular salaried office position.

Selection Process and Evaluation

Eligible candidates will be called for interview by the constituted selection committee. The committee will assess academic qualification, work experience, experience in child protection and juvenile justice related work, experience of working with children, and personal interaction.

Panel Tenure and Empanelment Rules

• The panel will be prepared by the selection committee and the selected list will be displayed on the notice board of the District Child Protection Unit, West Singhbhum.
• The empanelled list will have 60 percent women members and 40 percent men members. In special circumstances, if women members are not available, men may be empanelled in their place.
• The panel will remain valid for 3 years.
• The performance of empanelled Support Persons will be reviewed annually.
• The process for preparation of a new panel will begin 2 months before completion of the 3-year period.
• Police verification of criminal antecedents is mandatory for empanelled Support Persons.

If any criminal case is found registered against an empanelled Support Person at the local police station, legal action may be taken and the empanelment can be cancelled.
