ECIL Recruitment 2026 Overview

ECIL is conducting walk-in selections for 32 contract posts under Advt. No. 07/2026. The recruitment is for Project Engineer on Contract (PE-C), Technical Officer on Contract (TO-C), Assistant Project Engineer on Contract (APE-C) and Senior Artisan on Contract (SA-C).

These positions are spread across multiple locations under the North, West and South zones. The appointment is temporary and project-linked, with an initial tenure of one year. In most cases, the contract can be extended up to four years including the initial term, depending on project requirement and satisfactory performance.

Latest Walk-in Dates and Corrigendum Update

The original advertisement listed different zonal walk-in dates, but ECIL later issued a corrigendum revising the Bengaluru and Chennai schedules. Candidates should follow the latest official schedule below:

This corrected schedule is important because many secondary listings still reflect the earlier South Zone dates. Candidates attending Bengaluru or Chennai should rely on the corrigendum date of 20 April 2026.

Post-wise Vacancy Details

The posts are distributed across locations such as New Delhi, Chandigarh, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Allahabad, Rawatbhata, Mumbai, Kakrapar, Bengaluru, Kaiga, Kudankulam, Chennai and Kalpakkam. The full zone-wise and category-wise breakup is given in the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

ECIL has prescribed separate minimum qualifications and experience for each post:

Apprenticeship in the relevant field, up to a maximum of one year, is also considered as experience. For SC and ST candidates, the aggregate percentage requirement of 60% is relaxed to 50% subject to availability of reserved posts.

Discipline requirements vary by post category and location. Broadly, ECIL has asked for candidates from Electronics, ECE, ETC, EEE, Electrical, E&I, CSE, IT, CSIT, Instrumentation and allied backgrounds depending on the role. One PE-C post at Kudankulam specifically requires Mechanical or Electrical or EE with NDT-Level II certification.

Age Limit and Relaxations

Age relaxation is available as per the notification. OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation and SC or ST candidates get 5 years relaxation. Persons with benchmark disabilities having minimum 40% disability or more get 10 more years relaxation in addition to the category relaxation applicable to them. Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir from 01 January 1980 to 31 December 1989 get 5 years relaxation.

The notification also states that reservations and relaxations for EWS, OBC (NCL), SC, ST, PwD and Ex-servicemen will be as per Presidential directives.

Salary, Benefits and Contract Tenure

For PE-C, ECIL has also provided a lump sum one-time amount of ₹8,400 towards attire allowance after completion of at least 6 months tenure. The APE-C and SA-C rates are stated to be revised every 6 months in line with CLC (Central) guidelines.

Selected candidates are also eligible for reimbursement of medical insurance premium, company PF, TA or DA while on official duty and paid leave as per rules. The general tenure is one year initially and may extend up to four years including the initial term. However, the Kudankulam PE-C post is specifically marked as extendable up to two years including the initial one year.

Walk-in Venues and Reporting Details

Eligible candidates need to report at the correct zonal venue. Registration timing is from 09:00 hrs to 11:30 hrs, and candidates will not be allowed beyond that time.

Candidates should reach the venue with sufficient time for registration and verification, as document checking and interview may take considerable time.

Documents Required for Walk-in

Candidates have to download the application form from the ECIL website and attend the walk-in with the duly filled application form, resume, original certificates and one set of self-attested photocopies.

• 10th class certificate or school leaving certificate as date of birth proof
• Qualification certificates and mark sheets
• CGPA to percentage conversion certificate, wherever applicable
• Experience certificates clearly showing from and to dates and post held
• If currently employed, appointment order plus first and recent pay slips
• Category certificate for EWS, OBC, SC or ST, if applicable
• Government-issued identity proof such as Aadhaar or passport
• PwBD, Ex-serviceman or J&K domicile related certificates, if claiming such relaxation

The notification clearly states that work experience claimed without supporting documents will not be considered while calculating post-qualification experience.

Selection Process and Merit Criteria

ECIL will first allow candidates after registration and successful document verification. Shortlisted candidates will then be evaluated through personal interview. Final recommendations will be made on merit using the following weightage:

The experience component is calculated differently post-wise. For PE-C, marks are given for the initial 3 years experience and additional years up to the notified cap. For TO-C and APE-C, marks are based on the initial 1 year experience and additional years. For SA-C, marks are based on the initial 2 years experience and additional years. The official notice also clarifies that experience from academic institutions, colleges, internship or project work will not be counted for post-qualification experience.

Important Conditions and What Candidates Should Note

• Candidates can apply for only one post category. Applying for multiple posts is not allowed.
• The cut-off date for calculation of age and post-qualification experience is the date of selection.
• Candidates should be ready to work anywhere in India based on organisational requirement.
• Only Indian nationals are eligible.
• Qualifications must be from a recognized Indian university or institution.
• ECIL reserves the right to alter the number of posts or cancel the recruitment process.
