GPSC Accounts Officer Recruitment 2026 Overview

GPSC has released Advertisement No. 6/2026-27 for recruitment to the post of Accounts Officer, Class-2, Gujarat Accounts Service. The post falls under the Finance Department and the commission has notified 20 vacancies. Applications are to be submitted online through the GPSC-OJAS system within the notified dates.

This recruitment is not a single-stage process. Candidates first appear in the preliminary examination, then shortlisted candidates move to the mains written examination, followed by a personal interview. The preliminary examination is only for screening and its marks are not counted in final merit.

Out of the total posts, 1 post is reserved for persons with disabilities. The disability reservation identified in the detailed advertisement is for Hard of Hearing. There is no ex-serviceman reservation shown against the total posts for this advertisement.

Reserved category candidates may also apply against unreserved vacancies, but the criteria applicable to the unreserved category will apply in that case.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for GPSC Accounts Officer Recruitment 2026, the candidate must have one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or institution:

• Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com)
• Chartered Accountant (CA)
• Institute of Cost and Works Accounts qualification (ICWA)
• Cost and Management Accountant (CMA)
• Company Secretary (CS)

In addition, the candidate must possess basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment Rules and must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

The notification also allows candidates who have appeared in a qualifying degree examination to sit for the preliminary examination. However, such candidates must produce proof of passing the required examination before admission to the mains written examination.

Age Limit and Relaxation

A candidate must not be less than 20 years of age and must not be more than 37 years of age as on 21 April 2026. Age is calculated with reference to the last date of receipt of application.

For reserved-category benefits, the applicable Gujarat-origin and certificate rules in the advertisement must be followed.

Salary and Service Details

The post carries Pay Matrix Level 08 with pay scale of Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400, along with other admissible allowances as per rules. This is the notified pay band for the Accounts Officer, Class-2 post under the Gujarat Accounts Service.

Application Fee

Unreserved category candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100. If the fee is paid through post office challan, postal charges are extra. If the fee is paid online, service charges are extra.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories of Gujarat state, namely EWS, SEBC, SC and ST, as well as persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen, are exempted from payment of the application fee as per the advertisement.

The fee can be paid up to 22 April 2026. Candidates should keep the challan receipt or online payment receipt safely for future reference.

5. Save the application and note the generated application number and confirmation number.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

Interview: 100 marks

The preliminary examination is only a screening test. Its marks are not counted in the final merit list. Final merit is prepared on the basis of mains written marks plus interview marks. The notification also states that around 15 times the number of vacancies may be admitted to the mains based on preliminary results.
