Current Status of the JEE Advanced 2026 Application Form

The JEE Advanced 2026 application form has a staggered schedule. Direct registration for Foreign National and OCI/PIO (F) candidates opened on 6 April 2026. Registration for JEE Main 2026 qualified candidates opens on 23 April 2026 at 10:00 IST.

This means candidates should check which category they fall under before trying to register. The official registration process is available only through the JEE Advanced portal.

Who Can Fill the JEE Advanced 2026 Application Form

There are two main application routes in JEE Advanced 2026.

• Indian Nationals and OCI/PIO (I) candidates must first qualify in JEE Main 2026 and then register for JEE Advanced during the official registration window.
• Foreign National and OCI/PIO (F) candidates can use the direct registration route on the official website.

Candidates should not assume that clearing Class XII alone is enough to apply. The official eligibility criteria must be satisfied in full.

Eligibility Criteria for Appearing in JEE Advanced 2026

For Indian Nationals and OCI/PIO (I) candidates, all official conditions must be met together.

• Performance in JEE Main 2026: the candidate should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the B.E. or B.Tech paper of JEE Main 2026.
• Age limit: candidates should have been born on or after 1 October 2001. SC, ST, and PwD candidates get a 5-year relaxation and should have been born on or after 1 October 1996.
• Number of attempts: a candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
• Class XII appearance: the candidate should have appeared for Class XII or equivalent for the first time in either 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
• Earlier admission at IITs: candidates should not have been admitted to an IIT earlier, except in the limited cases allowed in the official brochure such as withdrawal before the last round or cancelled seat before the last round.

There is also a special provision for candidates whose board declared the 2023-24 Class XII results on or after 18 June 2024. Those candidates may still be eligible if the other conditions are met.

Board Marks Requirement for Admission to IITs

JEE Advanced eligibility to write the exam and eligibility for final admission to IITs are related but not identical. For admission to IITs after qualifying JEE Advanced, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following conditions with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class XII or equivalent:

• At least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII or equivalent. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the minimum is 65%.
• Be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in the respective board examination.

The calculation is based on five subjects only: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one language with higher marks if more than one language was taken, and one additional subject with the highest marks.

JEE Advanced 2026 Application Fee

For examination centres in foreign countries, the fee differs and is charged in USD. The official brochure also states that service charges, processing fees, and bank charges are extra. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Documents Required for JEE Advanced 2026 Registration

Candidates have to upload scanned copies of the required documents during online registration. The exact list depends on the candidate's category.

• Class X certificate with date of birth or birth certificate.
• Class XII or equivalent certificate. If the 2026 marksheet is already available, it must be uploaded.
• Gazette notification if the candidate's name differs from the Class X certificate.
• GEN-EWS certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, if applicable, or the prescribed declaration in lieu of certificate.

5. Fill in personal, academic, and category details carefully.
6. Upload the required scanned documents in the prescribed format.

What Happens After Registration

After completing registration and fee payment, candidates should track the next official dates carefully.

• Admit card download: 11 May 2026 to 17 May 2026.
• Choosing of scribe by eligible candidates: 16 May 2026.
• Exam date: 17 May 2026.
• Candidate response copy: 21 May 2026.
• Provisional answer key: 25 May 2026.
• Feedback window on provisional answer key: 25 May 2026 to 26 May 2026.
• Final answer key and result: 1 June 2026.

These dates matter because missing the admit card window, exam schedule, or post-exam timelines can affect the next stages.
