Recruitment Overview

APSSB is conducting a combined recruitment for several uniformed services posts under Advertisement No. 04/26. The recruitment includes Constable Band (IRBn), Constable Bugler (IRBn), Constable (IRBn), Constable Civil Police (Female), Constable Civil Police (Male), Fireman, and Special Tiger Guard under STPF.

All advertised posts are in Pay Matrix Level-3. The recruitment is handled through a common examination process with post-wise physical and other qualifying requirements.

Important Dates

The original APSSB advertisement gave 10 April 2026 as the closing date. A later official notice rescheduled the deadline and written examination. Candidates should follow the latest notice for the application schedule.

APSSB has specifically stated that educational qualification, age and experience will still be determined as on 10 April 2026.

Post Wise Vacancy Details

The official recruitment covers 984 vacancies across seven post codes. Out of the total vacancies, 67 are reserved for Ex-Servicemen.

Eligibility Criteria

The official notice says candidates must be citizens of India. Educational qualification and age are post-wise, and the eligibility cut-off date remains 10 April 2026 even after the rescheduling notice.

• Constable Band (IRBn): Class 10 pass and knowledge of playing band.
• Constable Bugler (IRBn): Class 10 pass and knowledge of playing bugle.
• Constable (IRBn): Class 10 pass or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Constable Civil Police (Female): Class 10 pass or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Constable Civil Police (Male): Class 10 pass or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Fireman: Class 10 pass or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Special Tiger Guard: Class 10 pass from a recognized board.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The age bands vary by post code. APSSB has also mentioned normal APST relaxation and a separate one-time age relaxation for a limited set of post codes.

Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe candidates. The official annexure also provides one-time age relaxation only for candidates who appeared in the 13 July 2025 written examination for earlier constable-related post codes, and this special relaxation applies only to post codes 5/26, 6/26, 8/26 and 9/26, not to 7/26, 10/26 or 11/26.

Application Fee and Pay Scale

All posts in this recruitment are in Pay Matrix Level-3. The fee has to be paid online and is non-refundable.

Pay for all posts is Level-3 in the Pay Matrix, which corresponds to Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100.

Selection Process

The official scheme of examination has multiple stages. The written examination is the merit-deciding stage, while the later stages are qualifying in nature.

1. Stage I: Objective type written examination of 200 marks and 2 hours duration.
2. Stage II: PST, PET and Trade Test where applicable.
3. Stage III: Medical Fitness Test for post codes 5/26 to 10/26.

For post code 11/26, the official scheme lists Stage I and Stage II only. APSSB also states that candidates must secure at least 33 percent marks in aggregate in the written examination to remain eligible for further consideration, and there is no negative marking.

Written Exam Pattern and Subjects

The written test is common in structure and carries 200 marks. Each subject carries 50 marks.

The syllabus described in the notification covers current events, history, polity, constitution, geography, economics, science, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, number systems, ratio and proportion, percentage, mensuration, time and distance, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and related areas.

PST PET and Trade Test Highlights

The physical requirements differ by post and gender. Candidates should read the official PDF carefully for the full post-wise standards before applying.

• Constable IRBn and Constable Civil Police Male posts require male physical standards including chest measurement and events such as 100 metres, 1500 metres, high jump and long jump.
• Constable Civil Police Female includes events such as 100 metres in 19 seconds, 800 metres in 5 minutes, long jump of 9 feet and high jump of 90 cm.
• Band and Bugler posts require the same physical standards plus trade test in playing band or bugle.
• Fireman has a separate PET that includes 100 metres race with 10 kg load, 1500 metres run, climbing rope or vertical pipe, high jump and long jump.
• Special Tiger Guard has a different physical profile, including long-distance walk, high jump and long jump, with separate male and female standards.

Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET and Trade Test, but they still have to appear in and qualify the PST.

How to Apply Online

Applications are accepted only through the APSSB website. No offline or other mode of submission is allowed.

1. Visit the APSSB recruitment portal.
2. Open the Special Recruitment Examination for Uniformed Services 2026 application.
3. Register using your mobile number and email ID.
4. Fill in personal details, educational details and post preferences carefully.
5. Upload the required scanned photo and signature.
6. Pay the applicable fee online.
7. Submit the application before the deadline and keep a printout of the finally submitted form.

APSSB advises candidates to submit only one application for a particular post. Preference once submitted is treated as final and cannot be changed later.

Documents and Important Instructions

At the application stage, candidates are not required to upload all supporting certificates. The notification mainly asks for scanned photo and signature, while full certificates are checked later during document verification.

• Valid photo identity document for exam day, such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, PAN Card or other government-authorized photo ID
• Matriculation certificate for date of birth proof at document verification
• Educational qualification certificate for the relevant post
• APST certificate, if applicable
• Ex-Servicemen discharge book and PPO, where applicable
• Printout of the online application and admit card

Final merit is prepared only on the basis of the written examination, subject to qualifying the later stages and producing all required documents.

What Is Confirmed and What Candidates Should Watch

The official APSSB documents clearly confirm the total vacancies, post-wise structure, revised last date, revised written exam date, pay level, fee, age bands, eligibility cut-off date, and stage-wise selection process.

The exact PET/PST schedule, admit card release date, and post-wise later stage dates are not yet separately announced in the latest notice and are to be issued later by APSSB. Candidates should therefore keep checking the official notice page and recruitment portal for fresh updates.
