NPCIL Executive Trainee Recruitment 2026 Overview

NPCIL has issued the detailed advertisement for Executive Trainee 2026 recruitment through GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026. Applications are invited from Indian nationals for Executive Trainee posts in six engineering disciplines.

The recruitment is for 330 vacancies and the application process is fully online through the official NPCIL careers portal. Candidates shortlisted through GATE score screening will be called for personal interview, and final selection will be based on interview performance subject to medical fitness.

NPCIL ET 2026 Vacancy Details

The notification also shows that out of 330 vacancies, 314 are current vacancies and 16 are backlog vacancies. Candidates should check the detailed advertisement for discipline-wise reservation and PwBD-related applicability before submitting the form.

Category-wise Vacancy Breakup

Backlog vacancies are included within the total category count. Candidates claiming reserved category benefits must ensure that they hold the prescribed certificate in the required format at the applicable stage.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have a full-time regular B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc. (Engineering) or 5-year Integrated M.Tech in the relevant engineering discipline with at least 60% aggregate marks. A valid GATE 2024, GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 score in the same discipline is required.

Only regular educational degrees obtained through full-time on-campus mode are acceptable. Degrees through correspondence, distance education, research mode or part-time mode are not eligible.

Final-year candidates may also apply if they are otherwise eligible, but they must produce the final result showing completion of degree with not less than 60% marks on or before 30 November 2026.

The detailed notification contains the exact list of accepted qualifying branches under each advertised discipline. Candidates should not assume branch equivalence unless it is explicitly listed in the advertisement.

Age Limit as on 30 April 2026

Additional relaxation is provided in certain categories such as ex-servicemen and dependents of those who died in the 1984 riots, as stated in the notification. There is no age limit for employees serving in NPCIL who otherwise fulfil the prescribed criteria.

Application Fee

The fee is non-refundable and has to be paid online through the integrated payment gateway using available online payment options. Candidates should verify the fee applicability against their category before making payment.

Selection Process

The selection process is based on valid GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 scores followed by personal interview.

1. Candidates are shortlisted for interview in the order of merit based on valid GATE scores by applying a 1:12 ratio.
2. If more than one candidate has the same cut-off score at the shortlisting stage, all such candidates are shortlisted.
3. Equal weightage is given to GATE 2024, GATE 2025 and GATE 2026 scores for shortlisting.
4. Final selection is based only on performance in the personal interview, subject to medical fitness.
5. No weightage is given to GATE score in the final selection after interview shortlisting.

The qualifying marks in interview are 70% for unreserved candidates and 60% for EWS, SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PwBD candidates. In case of a tie in interview marks, higher GATE score is used first, followed by age seniority if needed.

Salary, Training and Bond

Selected candidates will undergo one year of orientation training. During training, NPCIL will pay a monthly stipend of Rs. 74,000 and a one-time book allowance of Rs. 30,000. Mandatory lodging and boarding are provided as per NPCIL rules.

After successful completion of training, Executive Trainees are appointed as Scientific Officer/C in Group A at Pay Level 10 with basic pay of Rs. 56,100 plus admissible allowances.

Selected candidates are required to execute a personal indemnity bond of Rs. 9,18,000 and a service bond to serve NPCIL for at least three years after successful completion of training. No third-party surety is required.

For Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation disciplines, candidates are required to indicate preference for reactor stream in the online application. Civil candidates are not required to indicate reactor stream choice.

6. Upload scanned photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
7. Pay the application fee if applicable.

9. Take a printout of the submitted online application for interview and document verification use.

NPCIL does not accept handwritten, typed or offline application forms for this recruitment. Candidates should submit only one correct application for the intended discipline.
