Official NCL Assistant Foreman syllabus 2026 status

The syllabus for NCL Assistant Foreman 2026 is officially available through Annexure-A attached to the NCL recruitment notification for direct recruitment of Supervisory Staff posts. This is the primary source candidates should use for preparation.

The official notification covers three discipline-based papers under the same recruitment: Assistant Foreman (E&T), Assistant Foreman (Mechanical), and Assistant Foreman (Electrical). NCL Assistant Foreman exam pattern 2026

The exam pattern is officially confirmed in the notification. The Computer Based Test is conducted separately for each post and consists of two sections.

Because Section A alone carries 70 percent of the total paper, candidates should spend most of their preparation time on their discipline syllabus and use the common section to improve score stability.

Which syllabus applies to which post

Candidates should prepare only the technical syllabus that matches the post they have applied for. The common 30-mark section is the same for all posts, but the 70-mark technical section is different.

Selection process, qualifying marks and tie-breaking

The official selection process is centered on the Computer Based Test. Candidates are allowed to sit for the CBT based on their declaration in the application form, and scrutiny or verification of eligibility is done after the result for candidates who qualify as per the prescribed cut-off.

Minimum qualifying marks in the official notification are:

• UR and EWS: 50 marks out of 100
• SC, ST, ESM, OBC-NCL and PwBD: 40 marks out of 100

If two or more candidates score the same marks, NCL resolves the tie in this order: higher marks in Section A, then older age, then alphabetical order of name. Separate merit lists are prepared for the relevant positions and cadre categories.

Admit card, CBT date and result status

As per the official notification, the tentative date of downloading the admit card, the tentative CBT date and the tentative date of declaration of result will be intimated through the official NCL website. They were not fixed in the recruitment PDF itself.

The official recruitment timeline confirmed in the notification was:

• Start date of online registration and form submission: 11 February 2026, 10:00 AM
• Closing date of online registration and form submission: 05 March 2026, 11:59 PM

NCL has also stated that after completion of the CBT, response query management for comments or objections will be activated on the NCL website after 3 days and the objection link will remain active for 4 days only. Candidates should therefore keep checking the recruitment page regularly instead of waiting for unofficial updates.
