NEET UG 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The NEET UG 2026 question paper has 180 compulsory MCQs from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The exam is for 720 marks and must be attempted in 180 minutes.

Each correct answer carries 4 marks, each incorrect answer carries minus 1 mark, and unanswered questions carry 0 marks. The paper will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode using OMR sheets.
NEET UG Dress Code and Barred Items
Candidates should follow the dress code and avoid carrying any item that is not allowed inside the examination centre. Heavy clothes and long sleeves are not preferable. Slippers or sandals with low heels are preferable.
Do not carry textual material, bits of paper, geometry box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen drive, scanner, communication devices, mobile phone, Bluetooth device, earphones, microphone, pager, health band, wallet, goggles, handbag, belt, cap, watch, bracelet, camera, ornaments, metallic items, food items or water bottle unless specifically permitted in the admit card instructions.
No arrangement is made at the centre for keeping candidates’ belongings, so it is safer to travel with only the allowed documents and items.
What to Do If NEET Admit Card Has an Error
If the admit card has a discrepancy in name, photograph, signature, category, date of birth or any other candidate detail, contact NTA immediately through the official helpline or email. NTA has advised candidates to approach the help line between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM for such issues.
If a candidate has already downloaded the admit card and later notices a discrepancy, they should still follow NTA’s instructions and keep all supporting records ready. The candidate should not manually alter or overwrite the admit card.
After Downloading NEET Admit Card
After downloading the admit card, verify the centre location and travel time in advance. It is useful to visit or check the route to the centre a day before the examination, especially if the centre is in another city.
Keep the admit card in good condition even after the exam because it may be needed during result, counselling or admission-related processes. Candidates should also regularly check neet.nta.nic.in, nta.ac.in, registered email and SMS for any new update before the exam.
