Candidates should treat the application schedule as confirmed because it is already part of the official Phase-XIV notice. The exact CBE dates are still to be seen in the exam city and admit card updates, so candidates should keep checking SSC and the concerned regional office site.

Vacancies and Post Coverage

SSC Selection Post does not work like a single post recruitment. The Phase-XIV notice advertises many separate post categories reported by different ministries, departments and offices. Vacancy figures are post-wise and region-wise, and SSC clearly states that the vacancies are tentative and may be altered, merged, cancelled or withdrawn if required.

Because of that structure, candidates should not judge eligibility or prospects from the exam name alone. They should open the official post-details page for Phase-XIV/2026, select the relevant region, and check the exact post name, age band, pay level, essential qualification, experience requirement and category-wise vacancy position for that post.

What varies post-wiseWhat candidates should check
Vacancy countEach post category has its own tentative vacancy figure
RegionPosts are linked to SSC regional jurisdictions and specific user departments
Qualification levelMatriculation, 10+2, graduation or higher technical qualifications depending on the post
Age bandDifferent age brackets are notified for different categories of posts
Experience requirementSome posts may require experience in addition to academic qualification
Pay levelSalary is linked to the post and department, not to one common exam-wide pay scale

Eligibility, Qualification and Age Limit

The biggest rule in SSC Selection Post is that eligibility is post-specific. The 2026 notice confirms that the crucial date for age-limit is 1 January 2026, while the crucial date for possessing essential qualification and experience is the closing date of application, which is 4 May 2026.

The exam is held in three educational bands: Matriculation level, Higher Secondary (10+2) level, and Graduation & above level. This does not mean every candidate becomes eligible for every post in that band. Each post category can still prescribe subject-specific degrees, diplomas, experience or language requirements.

Age relaxation follows the usual SSC framework for eligible reserved categories. In the current notice, the standard concessions include 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD, 13 years for PwBD-OBC, 15 years for PwBD-SC/ST, and 3 years after deduction of military service for eligible ex-servicemen. Additional relaxation categories are also listed in the notice and should be checked carefully before applying.

Application Process and Fee

SSC has already started the 2026 application process. Applications are accepted only through the official SSC website or the mySSC mobile application. Candidates who want to apply for more than one post category must submit separate applications and pay the fee separately for each category of post.

The 2026 notice also says Aadhaar-based authentication has been implemented for this examination. Candidates should complete One-Time Registration carefully because key fields such as name, date of birth and matriculation details should exactly match the Class 10 certificate.

  1. Create or log in through SSC One-Time Registration.
  2. Open the live examination section for Phase-XIV/2026 Selection Posts.
  3. Select the relevant post category after checking region, qualification, age and experience requirements.
  4. Fill the application, upload required details and complete the declaration.
  5. Pay the fee if applicable and keep the submitted application printout for records.

Before final submission, candidates should keep ready their matriculation details, mobile number, email ID, identity document, category certificate details if applicable, and qualification documents relevant to the post they are choosing.

Exam Pattern

The 2026 notice confirms that SSC will conduct three separate Computer Based Examinations for posts at Matriculation, Higher Secondary and Graduation-and-above levels. The question structure is common across these levels, but candidates appear for the level matching the post categories they have applied for.

SectionQuestionsMarks
General Intelligence2550
General Awareness2550
Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill)2550
English Language (Basic Knowledge)2550
Total100200

ModeComputer Based Examination
TypeObjective multiple-choice questions
Duration60 minutes with sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part
PwBD/scribe duration80 minutes where compensatory time is admissible
Negative marking0.50 marks for each wrong answer
LanguageHindi and English only

If a candidate has applied across different qualification levels, separate appearances may be required for the different levels. Candidates should therefore check their exact post categories and exam city details very carefully once the timetable is published.

Syllabus

SSC has given an indicative syllabus for the CBE. The same four subjects remain central to the exam, but the level of questions differs for Matriculation, 10+2 and Graduation-and-above posts.

  • General Intelligence: non-verbal and verbal reasoning topics such as analogies, classification, series, coding, spatial understanding, similarities, differences and problem-solving.
  • General Awareness: current events, everyday observation, India and neighbouring countries, history, geography, polity, economy, science and related general knowledge.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: basic arithmetic, number system, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, profit and loss, simple interest, time and work, time and distance and elementary mensuration topics depending on level.
  • English Language: vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, spelling, error spotting and basic usage.

For serious preparation, candidates should not stop at the generic syllabus. The better approach is to match the exam level of the post they are targeting, revise the previous pattern for that level, and practise objective questions within the sectional time limit used by SSC.

Selection Process

The 2026 process is multi-stage and post-dependent. SSC first conducts the Computer Based Examination. After that, candidates shortlisted for the relevant post categories have to upload supporting documents for scrutiny. The user department and the concerned regional office then handle document scrutiny and document verification for the post category.

StageWhat happens
Stage 1Computer Based Examination for the relevant qualification level
Stage 2Uploading of self-attested supporting documents for scrutiny after CBE result
Stage 3Skill test such as typing, data entry or computer proficiency test where the post prescribes it; usually qualifying unless the post details specify otherwise
Stage 4Document verification by the concerned user department for candidates found eligible at scrutiny stage
Final stageSelection against confirmed vacancies for the specific post category

This structure matters because a good CBE score alone does not guarantee selection for a post category. Candidates must also satisfy the exact post-wise eligibility, experience and document requirements at the scrutiny and document verification stages.

Salary Overview

SSC Selection Post is only the recruitment route. The final salary depends entirely on the post category selected by the candidate and the pay level attached to that post in the user department. Because the notice includes many different posts, there is no one common in-hand salary for the entire exam.

Salary aspectHow to read it
Pay levelCheck the pay matrix level shown in the official post details for your post category
Basic payDepends on the notified level and department rules
AllowancesUsually include admissible central government allowances as per posting place and department
VariationTechnical, clerical, assistant and scientific posts can have very different pay levels

The practical way to judge salary in this exam is to shortlist the exact posts you are eligible for, then compare their pay level, place of posting, role profile and qualification demand before applying.

Admit Card and Exam City Intimation

The 2026 admit card has not been released yet because the June 2026 examination is still ahead. SSC states that the admission certificate for the CBE will be made available on the Commission website and will not be sent by post or email.

As per the current notice, exam city and timetable information is expected to be uploaded around 10 days before the examination, while the facility to download the admission certificate is expected to become available about 2 to 3 days before the CBE. Candidates should therefore monitor SSC and the concerned regional office websites closely in the run-up to the exam.

  • Download the admit card from SSC once activated.
  • Verify name, roll number, exam date, reporting time and exam city.
  • Carry the printed admit card, recent passport-size photographs and valid original photo ID.
  • If the ID does not show date of birth, carry an additional original DOB proof as instructed by SSC.

Answer Key

The Phase-XIV answer key is not available yet because the examination has not been conducted. SSC has, however, confirmed in the 2026 notice that the tentative answer keys will be placed on the Commission website after the Computer Based Examination.

Candidates will be able to submit objections online within the time limit specified by SSC on payment of Rs. 50 per question. After considering valid representations, SSC will finalize the answer keys and use the final keys for result processing.

This means candidates should save their response copy and review the tentative answer key promptly once it is published, especially if they want to raise objections within the official window.

Result and Post-wise Merit

The 2026 result has not been declared yet. For SSC Selection Post, candidates should remember that the exam is not followed by one single merit list for one common post. Merit and shortlisting work post category-wise, based on the vacancies and eligibility conditions attached to each post.

After the CBE, shortlisted candidates are asked to upload documents for scrutiny. Only those found eligible for the relevant post category move forward to the next stage. Final selection is then processed against confirmed vacancies for that specific post category.

Because of this structure, candidates should track their applied post categories and regional updates carefully rather than waiting only for one generic exam-wide announcement.

Cut Off

The 2026 cut off is awaited. Candidates should not expect one common cut off for the entire exam because SSC Selection Post works with separate post categories, educational levels, regions and vacancy positions. Cut off can therefore vary significantly depending on the post, category and the number of eligible candidates competing for that post.

SSC also normalizes marks if the CBE is conducted in multiple shifts, and those normalized scores are used for merit and cut off determination. This makes raw score comparisons less useful across shifts.

In practical terms, candidates should aim for a strong score within their target qualification level and keep a close watch on the exact post categories they applied for when SSC releases result-related updates.

Exam Centres

The 2026 notice includes a large region-wise list of examination cities across SSC regions such as Central, Eastern, Karnataka-Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, North Eastern, Northern, North Western, Southern and other regional jurisdictions. Centre choice is taken during application, but SSC reserves the right to add, remove or reallocate centres if required.

How centre allotment worksWhat candidates should know
Application stageCandidates choose preferences from the official regional centre list
Final allotmentShown in the city intimation and admit card issued by SSC
Commission powerSSC may shift candidates to another centre if needed
Best practiceApply early and track city details once uploaded on the website

If the allotted city is different from the first preference, the candidate must still follow the final allocation shown by SSC. Travel planning should be done only after the city intimation and admit card are released.
