KRCL has announced walk-in recruitment for 1 Assistant Materials Manager post in its Stores/Projects Department through Notification No. CO/P-R/4C/2026 dated 15 April 2026. Vacancy and nature of appointment

There is 1 vacancy for Assistant Materials Manager. The engagement is on contract basis and is tied to KRCL's project requirements. The notification also notes that the number of posts is liable to change as per project requirement.

Applicants should also understand that this is not a regular establishment post. The contract appointee will not have any right to claim permanent absorption in KRCL regular service. Eligibility criteria

The essential educational requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Electronics, or an equivalent qualification, with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. In addition, KRCL has stated that PGDMM or MBA in Material Management is preferred, but it is not described as mandatory.

The notification requires three years of post-qualification experience in Materials Management in an industrial, commercial or government undertaking. The upper age limit is 30 years as on 01 January 2026. Age relaxation for ex-servicemen is stated to be discretionary.

Salary, allowances and facilities

KRCL has given city-class-based consolidated remuneration for this post. The monthly consolidated amount is Rs. 76,660 for A Class cities, Rs. 71,900 for B Class cities and Rs. 67,140 for C Class cities. The breakup in the notification includes basic pay, DA and other allowances. Other allowances are towards HRA, conveyance and mobile allowance.

The notification further states that annual remuneration will increase by 4% of the consolidated remuneration after completion of every year, subject to project requirement and KRCL's discretion. Separate provisions are also mentioned for life insurance premium reimbursement, health policy reimbursement, OPD medical allowance, official travel and leave.

Other facilities mentioned in the notification include reimbursement of life insurance premium up to Rs. 500 per month, medical allowance of Rs. 500 per month for OPD expenditure, reimbursement of health policy premium up to Rs. 500 per month, TA as per KRCL policy for official travel, and travel facility including complementary railway pass of 2AC class for duty travel. Earned leave of 15 days on completion of every 6 months of contract and 8 days casual leave during the contract year are also mentioned.

Selection process

The selection mode is walk-in interview. KRCL has also said that Group Discussion or any other elimination round, including a written test, may be introduced depending on the number of candidates. This means candidates should be prepared for a screening stage before the final interview.

The final merit will be based on performance in the interview, qualification and post-qualification experience. KRCL has stated that the decision of the nominated committee will be final and binding.

The Assistant Materials Manager will work under Dy. CMM/P and will handle procurement-related responsibilities, including procurement of USBRL project-related items and disposal of scrap. The notification further expects familiarity with MMD circulars, IRS conditions of contract, Railway purchase procedures, General Financial Rules, MII purchase policy, Railway Board guidelines, IREPS, schedule of powers, tender committee proceedings and operation of rate contracts.

The place of posting and headquarters is Corporate Office, Belapur. However, KRCL has specifically stated that the selected candidate will be required to travel to project sites as and when required.

Contract terms candidates should read carefully

The notification contains a few practical terms that can affect a candidate after selection. Selected candidates must pass the prescribed medical examination before contract execution. They should be able to join the project site or place of posting within a maximum of 30 days from the offer of appointment.

KRCL has also stated that no accommodation will be provided and no food or mess allowance will be paid. The selected candidate will have to execute an agreement and an indemnity bond of Rs. 50,000 in favour of KRCL.

One important point needs careful reading: the opening part of the notification says the post is on fixed-term contract basis for an initial period of one year, but the detailed contract terms later say the contract will be initially for two years and may be extended further based on satisfactory performance, mutual consent and requirement of KRCL. Because both statements appear in the same notification, candidates should confirm the applicable tenure directly with KRCL if this point matters for their decision.

KRCL also reserves the right to terminate the contract as per its terms, and the appointee will not be eligible for permanent absorption in regular service.
