| Paper | Mode | Subject | Questions / Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | Computer Based Mode | General Hindi and General English | 100 questions / 100 marks for each part | 2 hours with sectional timer of 1 hour for each part |
| Paper II | Descriptive | Translation and Essay | 200 marks | 2 hours |
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper I. Candidates shortlisted from Paper I will be called for Paper II. Document verification will be conducted by the user departments or organisations after declaration of the final result.
Syllabus and Paper Level
Paper I will test the candidate’s understanding of Hindi and English languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms, and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.
Paper II will include two passages for translation, one from Hindi to English and one from English to Hindi. It will also include an essay each in Hindi and English. This paper is meant to assess translation skill, language command, writing ability and comprehension.
Candidates should prepare both language accuracy and translation practice. Paper II is important because it checks practical translation and essay writing ability, not just objective language knowledge.
