State Bank of India has opened a contract-based recruitment for retired SBI officers to work as Resolvers in the Customer Experience Enhancement Department. This is not a fresh graduate or regular officer recruitment. It is a targeted engagement meant for retired officers who already understand SBI systems, procedures, complaint handling, and internal working.

The official advertisement shows 105 vacancies across multiple SBI circles, with posting at Circle Complaints Resolution Centres at Local Head Offices. The bank has also clarified that the vacancies are provisional and may change depending on requirement. Candidates have to apply online through SBI's careers and recruitment portal between 15 April 2026 and 5 May 2026.

For most applicants, the key questions are simple: who is eligible, what age limit applies, how much the bank will pay, how the selection will happen, and what documents need to be uploaded. The details below are arranged around those practical questions so a retired officer can quickly decide whether to apply.

What this SBI Resolver recruitment is for

SBI is engaging retired SBI officers as Resolvers on contract basis. The role is placed under the Customer Experience Enhancement Department and is meant for follow-up work related to timely and quality resolution of customer complaints, along with any other task assigned by the competent authority.

This is a circle-based engagement for experienced retired officers who already understand the bank's systems and internal procedures. It should be treated as a specialized post-retirement assignment rather than a regular permanent recruitment.

Who can apply

This recruitment is only for retired officers of SBI. The bank has stated that retired officers with unblemished service record who retired in MMGS-II, MMGS-III and SMGS-IV grades will be considered.

SBI has also clarified that no specific educational qualification is desired because applicants are retired SBI officers. Instead, preference will be given to ex-officers who have sufficient work experience, deep knowledge of systems and procedures, and overall professional competence in the relevant area.

  • Applicant must be a retired SBI officer.
  • Retired grade should be MMGS-II, MMGS-III or SMGS-IV.
  • Good track record of performance is expected.
  • Relevant work experience and professional competence are important.
  • Special skill or aptitude required for the role should be present.

Age limit, retirement conditions and disqualifications

The maximum age as on 31 March 2026 should not be more than 63 years. The bank may continue the engagement up to age 65, subject to satisfactory performance and renewal of contract.

SBI has made the retirement conditions very specific. The officer should have retired on attaining superannuation at the age of 60 years. Officers who voluntarily retired, resigned, were suspended, or left the bank before superannuation are not eligible. However, officers who had completed 58 years of age and 30 years of service or pensionable service at the time of applying for voluntary retirement under the bank's cited circulars can be considered after attaining 60 years of age.

  • No upper age relaxation is available to reserved category candidates.
  • The retired officer should be in good health and not suffering from any major ailment.
  • The officer's integrity should not have been doubtful during service.
  • No punishment or penalty of censure or above should have been imposed during the five years preceding retirement.
  • No CBI case or other law enforcement case should be pending.
  • The retired officer cannot take assignment with another organization during the contract period.
  • The retired officer will not exercise administrative or financial powers during the engagement period.

Remuneration, tenure and service conditions

Retired GradeFixed Monthly Remuneration
MMGS-IIRs. 45,000
MMGS-IIIRs. 45,000
SMGS-IVRs. 50,000

The contract will be for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 3 years, or until the officer attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. Performance will be reviewed quarterly.

The remuneration is without prejudice to pension. The contractual period will not be treated as service for PF, bonus, gratuity, pension, or other superannuation benefits. There is no provision for house, furniture, or other perquisites during the contract period. Income tax and other applicable deductions will be made at source.

The bank or the retired officer may terminate the contract with 30 days' notice or remuneration in lieu of notice. The officer will also have to execute a stamped Service Level Agreement before taking up the assignment.

Posting, working hours and actual role

The place of posting is the Circle Complaints Resolution Centre at the Local Head Office of the relevant circle. SBI has also reserved the right to post the selected officer anywhere in India depending on requirement.

The role of a Resolver is mainly to follow up and obtain timely and quality resolution of customer complaints. The bank may assign additional work from time to time, so the role is broader than a single complaint desk function.

Working hours will generally be the same as those applicable to serving officials, or as otherwise required. The merit list will be drawn circle-wise and category-wise, and selected candidates will be posted in the preferred circle for which they apply. They will not be entitled to inter-circle transfer.

Selection process

SBI will select candidates through shortlisting and interview.

  • Mere fulfilment of eligibility does not guarantee an interview call.
  • The shortlisting committee will decide the parameters for calling candidates.
  • The interview will carry 100 marks.
  • The qualifying marks in interview will be decided by the bank.
  • The final merit list will be prepared in descending order of interview marks only, subject to minimum qualifying marks.
  • If two or more candidates get the same cut-off marks, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
  • No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.

This means the recruitment is not based on written examination. For applicants, the practical focus should be on service profile, complaint-resolution experience, fit for the circle, and interview readiness.

How to apply online

  1. Visit SBI's current openings page and open the Resolver recruitment link.
  2. Register online using a valid and active email ID.

  5. Save the form if needed and review all entries before final submission.
  6. Submit the application and keep a printout of the system-generated form for record.

SBI has stated that hard copy of the application and other documents is not required to be sent to the recruitment office. The official notification asks candidates to upload the required documents online. If these are missing, the application may not be considered for shortlisting or interview.

Reservation and category points applicants should not miss

The notification includes reserved and unreserved vacancies. However, the bank has specifically stated that no relaxation in upper age limit is available to reserved category candidates for this engagement.

  • OBC candidates falling in the creamy layer must apply as General if otherwise eligible.

  • OBC candidates called for interview must produce a valid non-creamy layer certificate issued within the prescribed period mentioned in the notification.
