What the Official CUCET 2026 Syllabus Covers

The official CUCET 2026 syllabus published by Chandigarh University covers different subject groups for Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce, Arts, PG programmes, lateral entry, design, and physical education routes. This means there is no single universal syllabus PDF that applies to every student in the same way.

For most candidates, the right approach is to first identify your admission category and then prepare only the matching modules. The university has also clarified that candidates appear in different modules based on qualification and programme type. So while the total number of questions remains 100, the subject breakup changes from stream to stream.

CUCET 2026 Syllabus and Pattern for 10+2 Non-Medical and Medical

For 10+2 Non-Medical, the official paper pattern is English for 10 questions, Physics for 25 questions, Chemistry or Computers for 25 questions, Mathematics for 25 questions, and Aptitude for 15 questions.

For 10+2 Medical, the pattern is English for 10 questions, Physics for 25 questions, Chemistry for 25 questions, Biology for 25 questions, and Aptitude for 15 questions.

• Physics: units and dimensions, force and motion, heat, mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, optics, electromagnetic waves, and introductory modern physics topics.
• Chemistry: atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, solutions, thermodynamics basics, chemical kinetics, organic chemistry, redox, equilibrium, and environmental chemistry basics.

For 10+2 Commerce, the official question-paper pattern is English for 10 questions, Economics for 30 questions, Accountancy for 30 questions, and Commerce for 30 questions.

The official Commerce and Accountancy syllabus includes management fundamentals, principles of management, business environment, planning, organizing, staffing, and related business studies topics. The Accountancy part includes partnership firms, partnership deed, capital accounts, profit appropriation, goodwill, admission of a partner, retirement, death of a partner, revaluation, reserves, and dissolution-related topics.

The Economics section includes macroeconomics topics such as national income and related aggregates, money and banking, determination of income and employment, government budget, and related introductory macroeconomic concepts.

CUCET 2026 Syllabus and Pattern for 10+2 Arts

For 10+2 Arts with English, the official pattern requires English and General Studies as compulsory subjects, along with any two from subjects such as Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History, Hindi, Geography, Psychology, Philosophy, Mathematics, Public Administration, Legal Studies, and Mass Media Studies.

For 10+2 Arts with Hindi, the pattern requires Hindi and General Studies as compulsory subjects, along with any two from subjects such as Political Science, Economics, Sociology, History, English, Geography, Psychology, Philosophy, Mathematics, Public Administration, Legal Studies, and Mass Media Studies.

The General Knowledge and General Studies area officially includes nation and states, capitals and currencies, sports, inventions, books and authors, famous personalities, awards, world geography, government schemes, business and economy, defence, reports and indices, environment and biodiversity, places in news, important days and events, science and technology, international knowledge, art and culture, ministers' portfolios, and current affairs. The General Studies section also includes science and society, contemporary problems of Indian society, cultural heritage of India, India's freedom struggle, constitutional values, and human rights.

English, Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning Topics

These are some of the most repeated foundation areas across several CUCET categories, especially in UG and PG papers.

The official English syllabus includes grammar, agreement, tense, relative pronouns, determiners, prepositions, modals, adjectives, voice, transformation, question tags, phrasal verbs, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, homophones, spelling, contextual meaning, reading comprehension, idioms and phrases, paragraph rearrangement, and linkers.

For Bachelor of Design programmes, the university uses Design Aptitude and English as compulsory sections, followed by selected subject combinations depending on whether the candidate comes from Non-Medical, Medical, Commerce, or Arts. The official PG-level patterns are also separated by programme type.

This matters because PG applicants should not follow the 10+2 stream syllabus. MBA, engineering, and law candidates should prepare their specific question mix only.
