CERC Senior Advisor Recruitment 2026 overview

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued a recruitment notice for engagement of an Individual Consultant in the capacity of Senior Advisor. The role is intended to support the Commission in coordinating and managing participative issues connected with proposed regulatory and research studies in the power sector.

• Experience of working in Electricity Regulatory Commissions is stated as an added advantage.

Role and responsibilities of the consultant

The Senior Advisor role is broader than a routine advisory assignment. The consultant is expected to assist the Commission in active coordination, analysis, and regulatory support work.

• Handle coordination work and participative issues while engaging academic or research institutions and organisations.
• Assist committees formed for consultancy evaluation.
• Align efforts across nodal officers and teams so that activities contribute to shared objectives.

• Support finalisation of amendments to regulations based on stakeholder views.
• Analyse matters permissible under the Electricity Act, 2003, as assigned by the Commission.

Salary, benefits, and service conditions

CERC has specified the engagement fee and a few support benefits in the official notice.

The notice also says the consultant may be called on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted holidays if required. Official tour reimbursement within India is allowed as per the stated travel entitlement.

Age limit, contract period, and extension rules

The official advertisement gives a specific age condition and a structured contract period.

• The applicant must be below 62 years of age as on 1 January of the year of advertisement.
• No consultant will be retained in the Commission after attaining 65 years of age.
• The initial contract period is one year.
• On satisfactory performance, the engagement may be extended for three more years.

• In deserving cases, an annual escalation of up to 10 percent on the fee may be granted with approval of the Chairperson.
