Selection process and exam pattern
Selection will be based on a written examination of objective type. TGPSC may conduct it either in CBRT mode or in OMR-based offline mode, and the final mode will be informed later through a web note or the hall ticket.
| Paper | Subject | Questions | Duration | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | General Studies and General Abilities | 150 | 150 minutes | 150 |
| Paper II | Chemistry | 150 | 150 minutes | 150 |
| Total | 300 | 300 minutes | 300 | |
The selection will be based on marks secured in the written examination. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for OC, Sportspersons and EWS, 35% for BC candidates, and 30% for SC, ST and PH candidates. However, securing minimum qualifying marks does not itself guarantee selection.
The notification also states that appearance in all papers is compulsory. Absence in any paper will lead to disqualification.
Syllabus focus, exam centres and hall ticket
Paper I covers General Studies and General Abilities, including current affairs, environmental issues, economy, geography, polity, Telangana history, logical reasoning and basic English. Paper II is Chemistry and includes core chemistry topics along with environmental pollution, control technologies and chemistry of water.
The written examination will be held at Hyderabad including HMDA jurisdiction, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam and Nizamabad, or at other centers as decided by the commission.
Hall tickets will be available from 7 days before the examination and can be downloaded up to 5:00 PM on the previous day of the exam. After the exam, TGPSC will publish the key on its website. Objections must be filed online within the stipulated time, and a fee of Rs. 500 per question is payable for objections. If an objection is found genuine, the fee is reimbursed.
Points to remember before and after applying
This post is a state-level post, and the notification says local reservation is not applicable. At the same time, candidates from other states are not entitled to reservation benefits under Telangana rules. If marks are tied, local status is considered first for ranking, followed by age and then subject-paper performance and qualification-based tie breakers.
If you are already employed in government service, autonomous bodies or government-aided institutions, you must inform your department and produce a No Objection Certificate when required. Candidates who become employed later in the recruitment process must also produce the same if asked.
Selected candidates must be medically fit and should be willing to serve anywhere in Telangana State. TGPSC has also stated that there will be no waiting list for this recruitment, and unfilled or non-joining vacancies will be carried forward to a later recruitment cycle.
